It's that time again...

Journal Entry: Sun Jan 2, 2005, 4:59 PM
Wow. I can't believe how long it's been. I supose I better do a bit of a recap as to what's happened over the last several months... So here goes.

On a music front, Aesthesis is no more. Our last jamming session was in January or February, and by the middle of the year, Mark and I conceded that it wasn't happening. I'll go further into details later, but first I want to tell you about my current plans.

I've decided, largely because I've got no money and I love music so much, that I should do some busking. I'll probably go down to The Bay, but may even make the odd treck into Rundle Mall. I'll need to find out from Holdfast Bay and Adelaide City councils if I need to do anything so that I can busk legally...

Also, as of New Year's Eve, it seems as if the next step of my musical career is about to begin, and one that, truth be told, is more likely to suit my style of music. I've spoken to Jim Flaharty, and we've decided to get together and have a bit of a jam. Jim plays bass and keys, both of which will go well with acoustic. I would also asume I'd be picking up much more, if not all, of the vocal duties, which is something I wasn't able to do in Aesthesis.

Anyway, as for the reason of Aesthesis' demise, it was that neither Mark or I had any time, and Adam was always hard to organise. Mark had little tome as a result of being at Uni, and I had little time as a result of obtaining my long-awaited job! I'm currently working for Woolies Petrol, just round the corner, but it's crap. The place is run REALLY badly, and the regional manager can't see that there's anything wrong. He's had more complaints to the union from our store than from all of the other 33 stores he manages. And this tells him not that there's a problem with Managment, but that there's a problem with the staff there... Fucking Dickhead.

So, what that boils down to is that I need a new job. And quite soon, I'm gonna have to start looking. I'm gonna try my hand at a few music stores. I love music, and if I can incorporate music into my job, it would make it a lot more barable, even if it were run poorly.

My other option is to look down at the Foodland near dad's place. They've just changed managment, and so would presumably be looking for staff. My biggest problem in getting a job is cricket, as I have training on Thurs night and games on Sat - the two times retaliers will need someone. Ah well. I'll sort something out, I'm sure.

As for my love life, Amy and I are still going as strong as ever. 19 months, 1 week and 1 day. I went over to Sydney after the QMF (coming a bit further down the page) for about a week, and we spent the best part of 15 hours together (at a rough guess-timate) which was wonderful. I stayed at my cousing Jacq's place, and she offered to vacate for a bit so we could be alone. Jacq's a champ.
I also went to her formal, which was a bit strange. Fun, but strange. I didn't know anyone other than Amy, but soooooooo many people knew me. Another strange thing was when Amy's former PE teacher came and sat next to me and started asking question. I got out of it without lying, but only cos there's a Brighton in Sydney as well as over here. He asked which school I went to, and I said Brighton Secondary. He said he didn't know anyone who'd taught at Brighton Secondary... He asked if I worked, and I said for Woolies Petrol. He asked if in Brighton, and I said no, in a suburb next to. He then said he expected me to be up dancing once the DJ they had started again, and I said it wasn't really my type of music. I told him about bands like Soukous Ba Congo, and he then said how good Tina Arena (who was supported by Paulini from Oz Idol) was the other night... What a tool.

OK. On to the QMF. The 3rd time I've been, and unfortunately, I'm finding it a bit less exciting... Each year there are more people, and less acts I really want to see. However, I enjoyed the people I did see. Paul Kelly was one of the headliners, and I really enjoyed seeing him. Played a long set, with lots of songs I didn't know... He's got a big repetoir(sp?). George Telek was great (and supported by one of my favs in David Bridie), and I'd recomend seeing him if you're into the world music scene.
Other stand-out acts included Xavier Rudd, Collard Greens and Gravy, and Colin Hay (of Men at Work fame) who, by the way, is a great storyteller. I find it ironic that the most iconic Australian song, Land Down Under, was written by a Scott... That's like Scotland The Brave being written by a Yank... Who knows.

Anyway, I'm off. Hopefully I'll get round to updating more often. I should also write some more stuff, since I haven't for ages... I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Shit happens!

Peace.

Actually, come to think of it, most of your submissions are missing the words! It only comes up with the picture and description :/

so... if you submit as poetry, write a description for it, then write out the lyrics, then put a picture as "preview" and submit it... then it should work :D

Hi Tom! ok, so I'll have to teach you to get around this place.
To fiddle around with your preferences, go to settings (under the big deviantart link at the top of the page) then go to user page, etc to change your information.
At some stage you'll need to make an avatar, I think they're 50x50 gifs.
Click Journal next to settings to write journals. The comments box that says devious thoughts (at the bottom of the page) is for other people to leave comments for you, and you can reply to them by clicking reply at the bottom of their comment.

(God I hope this all makes sense)

In the row underneath the row with journal and settings, go to submit, then follow the steps to make a submission. If you do it right, then the submission shows up on the left of this page, in the box called recent deviations. When you've made a few deviations, you can see your gallery by clicking the thing up the top that says gallery.

You can send notes to other deviantart users by clicking notes, next to journal at the top. So you could send me a note, which only I can see, if you put in pinecones as the address. Or to send one to David, put in his username, which is kharas.

Well, thats all I can think of right now... if you need help, come to my userpage (pinecones.deviantart.com) and leave a comment for me. Tata! Jay
